Science Book a Day Celebrates its 3rd Birthday!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY to my little blog! I can’t believe another year has gone by so quickly.

I started the blog on the 1st of June 2013 with the aim of engaging people with science books. I think there is so much coverage of other genres like crime, romance, fantasy, etc. that the humble science book often gets overlooked in reviews and publications around the world. Is science too serious? Is science too hard? Does it offer the world and deliver so little? It’s hard to say, but I know that I’m interested in people knowing more about science so that they can make more informed decisions, and to hear stories that go beyond the well trodden stories about Einstein, Newton or Gallileo. There’s a whole universe of books about science, whether it’s history, science through fiction or a book outlining the basics of physics or the minds of animals.

Today on its 3rd birthday, SBAD has featured 1096 books and interviewed over 300 authors, editors and illustrators. I have a small team of reviewers who have provided over 50 reviews for the blog, sharing their ideas and insights about what they read. We’ve also been lucky to be involved with Sigma, an imprint of Bloomsbury who have been able to provide many of our books for our monthly giveaways.

And thanks to everyone who has visited the blog and the many familiar faces that I see ‘liking’ books and sharing the odd comment with me. This blog is nothing without you, so thanks!

I will be trying a few new things in 2016, including affiliation programs and perhaps opening an online bookshop selling used science books. So please, keep up to date with the blog and let me know what works and what doesn’t.

Thanks very much and make sure you have a nice muffin on this lovely day 🙂

Cheers,

George
